Frequently Asked Questions

We:

 

  • Automate the processing of pipe inspection footage to find and code defects (regardless of what PTZ CCTV camera and software you used to collect the footage)

We don’t do:

 

  • Procurement of CCTV contractors (but we can suggest some great ones!)

  • Actual collection of pipe inspection footage

  • Build hardware for pipe inspections

We typically work with pipe Asset Owners (Water utilities and councils/municipalities), CCTV contractors, or both. 

The current rule of thumb is that the processing time is roughly the same time as the video duration itself (e.g. a 5 minute video will take 5 minutes to process). This is something our software team is constantly optimising.

Internal CCTV inspection footage from circular sewer/foul and stormwater/surface water pipes with a maximum diameter of 1200 mm (4 feet). The models have not yet been optimised for materials like brick sewers. Drinking water pipes are also not inspected in the same way that , so that is also out of scope.

 

  • Common video format of at least colour 480p definition.

  • Captured using a standard Pan Tilt Zoom (PTZ) camera.

  • Pipe asset metadata text overlaid on the video, specifically:

    • Pipe asset information shown at the beginning of the video.

    • Pipe chainage measurement to be shown continuously for the full duration of the video.

We can process almost any video file. If there are any file types in particular you’re not sure about please let us know so we can try it out for you.

As a rule of thumb: if a person can see the issues in the video, then the machine learning model has a better chance of picking it up. Basically, the clearer, the better.

Only the video file itself. We do not need any database files or PDFs. Our machine learning algorithms are trained to extract all the information needed for condition assessment directly from the CCTV inspection footage.

The videos are uploaded via our web platform. We also have an API (application programming interface) which means that we can streamline the flow of data from our platform seamlessly through to your asset management software without any effort from your team. Not a problem – our machine learning algorithms have been built to deal with all internal aspects of the pipe.

Not a problem –  we also detect and track water level in the pipe, so if the water level obscures the ability to carry out a proper condition assessment of your pipe, it will be automatically flagged.

The length of the pipe is not an issue.

There is no software that needs to be installed on your computer, so as long as you have an internet connection, all upgrades are managed remotely through our web servers and new version will be made live immediately on the platform when users log on. 

You should be able to access the site via any of the common internet browsers (Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox). Unfortunately, the functionality of the platform is limited on Internet explorer.
